These terms cover your use of Mynato, a dictation app for macOS made by Aryan F, trading name of Franz Dsa, an individual based in India.

By downloading or using Mynato you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it — and if you have already paid, ask for a refund. Our refund policy is generous.

What Mynato is

Mynato records your voice, converts it to text on your own Mac, and types the result where your cursor is. It also offers a local API so your own scripts and automations can trigger dictation.

It requires an Apple silicon Mac. Intel Macs are not supported and will not work.

What you get

Free. Unlimited dictation into any app, the standard speech model, history, custom vocabulary and sounds. Free does not expire and does not require a card.

Trial. Thirty days with every Premium feature unlocked, no card required. When it ends you move to Free — nothing locks, and dictation keeps working.

Premium. Everything in Free, plus the voice correction and control commands, continuous sessions, every speech model, hot words and macros, and the local API. $43 per year or $5 per month.

Students pay $30 per year. Email us from your university address or send a photo of your student card.

Your licence

When you subscribe we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Mynato on Macs you own or control, for as long as your subscription is active.

You may not resell it, rent it, share your licence key, or redistribute the app. You may not decompile or reverse-engineer it except where the law says you may regardless of what this document says.

Mynato is closed source. Buying a licence buys you use of the software, not the software itself.

What happens if you stop paying

You keep the app and you keep dictating. Cancelling, or a payment failing, moves you to the free tier. It does not lock you out, delete your history, or disable the app.

This is a deliberate design commitment rather than a courtesy: Mynato is built for people who rely on it to work without a keyboard, and taking that away over a billing problem would be indefensible.

Payment

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, who act as merchant of record — meaning Paddle is legally the seller, handles payment processing, and collects any sales tax or VAT. Their terms apply to the transaction itself.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time through the link in your purchase email or by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not end your current period — you keep Premium until the period you already paid for runs out.

Prices may change. A change never applies to your current period, and we will tell you before it applies to a renewal.

Your data

Your audio and the words you dictate never leave your Mac. We could not produce them if we were asked to, because we never have them. What we do hold, and the opt-in usage statistics you can decline without losing anything, are set out in our privacy policy.

What Mynato needs permission to do

macOS will ask you to grant Mynato two permissions: Microphone, so it can hear you while you hold the dictation key, and Accessibility, so it can type into the app you are using.

Accessibility is a significant permission — it means Mynato is technically capable of typing anywhere. Mynato never types anything you did not dictate.

Things we cannot promise

Speech recognition is imperfect. Mynato will sometimes get a word wrong, and how often depends on your microphone, your accent, background noise, and the model you choose. We do not promise any level of accuracy, and you should check what it typed before you rely on it — particularly for anything medical, legal, financial, or otherwise consequential.

Mynato is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind beyond those your local law gives you and that cannot be excluded.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profits, lost data, lost time, or damage arising from text Mynato typed incorrectly.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else the law does not permit us to limit. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes those away.

Ending things

You can stop using Mynato at any time.

We may end your licence if you breach these terms — for example by sharing licence keys or redistributing the app. We will email you first and give you a chance to put it right, unless the breach is serious and deliberate.

If we discontinue Mynato entirely, existing installs keep working. The app does not depend on our servers to run.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Mynato after that means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of New Delhi have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or anywhere with mandatory consumer protection law, this does not deprive you of the protections of your own country's law or your right to bring a claim there.
